Kitchen Design Trends from KBB Birmingham 2026
Kitchens by Nick McNally Team
Last week our team attended KBB Birmingham, the UK’s leading exhibition for kitchen, bedroom and bathroom design. The show brings together leading manufacturers, designers and suppliers to showcase the latest innovations in kitchen design, materials and appliances.
Events like this help us stay connected to the latest developments in bespoke kitchen design, ensuring we continue creating kitchens that combine quality, functionality and durability.
Here are a few of the highlights that stood out to us.
Japandi Inspired Kitchen Cabinetry
One of the standout launches came from Sachsenküchen, who introduced a new Japandi inspired cabinetry collection.
Japandi design combines the simplicity of Japanese interiors with the warmth and natural textures found in Scandinavian design. The cabinetry was available in a wide selection of real wood veneers and timber finishes, including various stains, oils and lacquers.
The result is a kitchen that feels calm, warm and refined while maintaining a contemporary look. Natural timber finishes continue to grow in popularity within high end kitchen design, particularly in homes where the kitchen forms part of a wider architectural space.
Bespoke Internal Kitchen Storage
Another strong trend at KBB Birmingham was the growing focus on bespoke kitchen storage solutions.
Several manufacturers showcased beautifully crafted internal drawer organisers and storage systems made from solid oak and walnut. These systems are designed to maximise storage space while allowing homeowners to customise the interior of their cabinetry.
From utensil organisers and spice storage through to fully integrated pantry solutions, thoughtful internal design plays an important role in creating kitchens that function well in everyday life.
Craftsmanship and Quality Materials
A renewed emphasis on craftsmanship was noticeable throughout the exhibition.
Many manufacturers showcased enhanced dovetail drawer box systems available in a range of timber finishes. Dovetail joinery has long been associated with traditional cabinetmaking and durable construction.
Details like this demonstrate how modern kitchen design is increasingly returning to high quality materials and long lasting construction, rather than focusing purely on surface appearance.
