More time spent at home…

Karen MacArthur, Designer
People are spending much more time at home; so we start to look closer at our properties rather selling and moving on this is partly due to the current economy and people are looking to potentially add value to their existing property and staying where they are. As things are changing people are more adaptable and are considering what is important and evaluating their needs and wants.

This would be thinking about where you spend most of the time and would it benefit in creating open plan scheme adding an extension the addition of a new kitchen or creating more private rooms and changing the floor plan of your property.

Whether that be spending more time with family in one area of the home, cooking and sitting down together, welcoming guests and entertaining, creating zones that are multifunctional to meet everyone’s needs.

Home offices….

Home offices are a must to many people given many people had to adapt to working from home due to the current pandemic and creating an area or room that is away from everyday areas is key and still making sure you are considering the work life balance.

These spaces, areas should be fun and exciting and a happy space to work and to help motivate.

This might be a simple as having some of your favourite things on display or even a favourite colour on the walls.

Open plan living & zones vs Private rooms…

Houses come in many shapes and sizes and often we consider creating an open plan space or making the best use of what we have.

If you like entertaining and hosting then open plan option is for you, as this allows you to still socialise while cooking, if space allows you could have your hob on an island or peninsular for you to interact with your guests and still be involved.

Open plan spaces can also have zoned areas for family and friends, a place for doing homework while still interacting with one another.

Other rooms in your property would have you be functional and best use of space to meet whatever your requirements are maybe, if this is achievable then you will feel more comfortable and as ease in your home.

Appliance technology…

Home connect /WiFi appliances.

This is the way forward if you are short on time or just want to spend more time with family while your food cooks away, as it cuts out all the in-between bits, helps you shop more effectively to avoid less waste and allows you to manage all your appliances and other home appliance over your Wi-fi whether this is through the app or speak to own voice-controlled devices to make your appliance interact with one another automatically.
